Psalm 72

1. We see a prayer of a father for His son. (1)

• God, please give my kid your wisdom. (Judgements)
• God, please give my kid your righteousness.

”Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

”And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4)

Talk about Florida shooting and fatherlessness/escapism.

• Absent or detached fathers
• Protective/permissive mothers
• Escapism through video games and internet
• Violent anarchistic music.

We have to work hard at winning our children’s hearts and training them to be good, wise and righteous people. We need to pray for our children.

2. We see a prayer of a king for His kingdom.

• Peace
• Help for the poor
• Leading the people in Righteousness
• Blessing to the people (6-7)

”Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 13:34)

1 Kings 10:10

3. We see the prayer of a prophet for the Messiah

• Despite the greatness of Solomon, all kings and nations did not serve Him.
